Paaskekrim! Perfect for  easter baskets. Fun mysteries for ages 7-9: Goofballs, by Tony Abbott.

Did you know that in Norway Easter is a time for reading crime mysteries? There's even a word for it that means "Easter Crime" Paaskekrim

Read more about it on Janet Rudolph's "Mystery Fanfare" blog
This is a very peculiar national activity. Publishers actually time series of books known as "Easter-Thrillers" or P√•skekrimmen, and dates of publication are moved to Spring and released at this time when the sale of mysteries goes up 50%. TV stations, radio and newspapers follow suit by running detective series based on the works of famous crime novelists such as Agatha Christie, P.D. James, Simenon and Ruth Rendell.

Goofballs #4

Hey! Thanks, Off the Library Shelf blog, for the nice mention of Goofballs #4!

After the epic 44 book fantasy series, The Secrets of Droon, Abbott clearly has another winner in a completely different genre (realistic humor fiction). Enjoy, and keep ‘em coming (I see #5 is due out in August …)!

Happy Thanksgiving -- or, "Thanksgoofing" to all my Goofballs readers! I hope you enjoyed the day and took the time to have fun with your loved ones. I know I did! Humor is a great blessing, and my family is grateful for it!

Here I am with our resident Goofdog, Betty the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. We all cheered for the corgis in the Westminster Dog Show on tv yesterday; too bad they didn't win their group this year. Betty is 8 years old, and we just celebrated her one-year anniversary as a member of our household. We think she has decided to stay!
